Senior General Ledger Accountant

El Paso, Texas

Mount Franklin Foods, a leading North American manufacturer of high-quality confections and nut products based in El Paso, Texas, is looking for a highly analytical, proactive, team player, and self-directed Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our corporate offices.

Summary of Job

This position is responsible for month, quarter, and year end closings, monitoring spending for adherence to budget and making recommendation on variances, preparing financial statement reports and monthly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis, preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and monthly expense variance analysis, managing integrations, consolidations, eliminations, inter-company transactions, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP performing inter-company transactions, reconciliations and consolidations, analyzing the annual plan, preparing P&L fluctuation analysis, managing AP, developing, implementing and maintaining systems, procedures, and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines, managing US General Ledger Accounting.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Independently perform accounting functions necessary to achieve accurate and timely general ledger month-end close. 
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger. 
  • Assist with financial reporting to prepare and coordinate regular monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Perform variance analysis on financial data. 
  • Perform detailed review, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and financial information.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting requirements, including capitalization policies, depreciation schedules, additions, disposals and regular reporting.
  • Maintain promotional and broker programs module and trade accrual management. 
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions and eliminations. 
  • Prepare audit materials and interact with external auditors. 
  • Ability to research, identify and resolve accounting issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

  • Proficient MS Office user.
  • Clear understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting required. 4+ years of relevant experience. CPA preferred.
  • Baan IV financial or other financial ERP application experience is preferred.
  • Must be bilingual with fluent use of the English & Spanish language.
